Our vision

Our VISION is to become an internationally renowned centre of excellence that is recognised for its competence in informing the (1) development, (2) implementation, (3) monitoring, control and performance measurement, and (4) continual optimisation of destination and organisational resilience strategies.

We understand that promoting destination and organisational resilience brings with it the duty to support the needs of multiple stakeholders, including public, private and non-governmental organisations, and to address questions of systemic, strategic, operational and ethical nature.

With this in mind, our research, curriculum development and knowledge transfer activities are guided by the following  SEVEN QUESTIONS:

1. At what institutional and organisational levels does or should the planning, implementation, measurement and continual optimisation of resilience strategies take place?

2. What is the current level of sophistication of destination and organisational resilience strategies ?

3. What academic or consulting frameworks do currently exist to inform destination and resilience strategies and are these fit for purpose?

4. What would be a comprehensive strategic resilience framework ?

5. How could such a framework be adapted to suit resilience strategies at different levels ?

6. To what extent is destination and organisational resilience embedded in national and international  curricula and to what extent do these promote resilience competences in graduates?

7. How can a comprehensive strategic resilience framework inform the development or curricula, research agendas and knowledge transfer activities?

Our RESEARCH AND KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER ACTVITIES are focused on the following stakeholder groups: destinations, destination infrastructure, public and private sector organisations, non-governmental organisations, higher education institutions and training providers, industry consultants, and tourists.

By engaging in applied business research we seek to pursue the following OBJECTIVES:

1. To support the preparedness of both the private and public sector to predict, manage and recover from disruption

2. To promote destination planning and business practices that bring socio-economic value to destinations and whilst protecting ecological resilience

3. To support the resilience of businesses in remaining innovative, competitive and whilst operating in turbulent, diverse and highly contextualised environments.

4. To promote societal wellbeing that is guided by the principles of corporate social responsibility and citizenship

5. To promote responsible leadership practices within both the private and public sector that are founded on resilience thinking

6. To inform curriculum development in business education and promote the comprehensive embedding of resilience thinking in subject benchmarks, curricula and accreditation schemes.
