About us

The Centre for Destination and Organisational Resilience (CenDOR) is run by a team of professionals and researchers based at the University of Gloucestershire.

We believe that resilience across the across all sectors is a necessary condition for sustainability and that endeavours to optimise resilience must form an integral part of sustainability agendas across all levels of industry and the public sector.

We further believe that, in order to act as an enabler of sustainability, resilience strategies must be based on the following core principles:

(1) the preservation of positive conditions

(2) collaboration

(3) empowerment

(4) dynamic adaptability

Concentrating on a set of focal points found to be central to destination and organisational resilience, our approach towards assessing and devising tourism resilience strategies is based on a continuous four-stage cycle: 1. planning, 2. implementation, 3. monitoring, control  and performance measurement, and 4. continual optimisation.

We undertake research and knowledge-transfer activities with a range of organisations and seek to develop bespoke resilience toolkits adapted to the specific needs of different organisations, destinations and related infrastructure.
